Calorie Controlled Diets
The most established one is simply to control the calories consumed. This diet is based on the very simple fact that all food has a calorific value which is the amount of energy that it takes to burn it up. The basis of the diet is that the amount of calories you consume, less the amount of energy you burn (metabolic rate plus activity) equals whether you will gain weight, lose weight or stay the same.
On many diets, including the 'fad' diets, the weight loss will be due to a reduced calorie intake. This includes, for example, the Scarsdale diet, the Cabbage diet, the Grapefruit diet and hundreds of others.
